Creating learning platforms that instigates critical thinking in learners that connects with the eternal lessons from nature engaging & being responsible.

This project was started with the students of the school, Bhanuben Pravin Shah Uchha Madhyamik Vidyalaya, located in Tara Village of Raigad District, Maharashtra Mumbai, supported by Yusuf Meherally Centre.

The aim was to promote change makers creating compassionate leaders to help them apply their minds spirit and hands to drive change in the ecosystem. We created learning tools that instigates critical thinking in learners that connects with the eternal lessons from nature to a relevant and effective preparation for a fast-changing future. By integrating the children in this process through hands-on-activities, engaging them, gradually making them conscious about the environment and responsible towards it thereby fostering changes in behaviour. I aim to create a group of Green Savvy Leaders who will be future facilitators to visualize and create a future with sustainability, creativity and connectedness at heart.

I aim to create a group of Green Savvy Leaders who will be future facilitators to visualize and create a future with sustainability, creativity and connectedness at heart. Project intends at inspiring the thirst of the children to know more(Knowledge), nurturing their passion (skill building), to influence and change the way we perceive the planet (attitude) in order to conserve the environment through the simple framework of knowing-doing-it yourself-innovating – leading.

Though environmental learning is part of the school curriculum, teaching method is text-book oriented. Unfortunately all the answers are already given in the text books. But can children develop their interest about any issue by memorizing names of trees, birds and animals etc. So the inner calling was that I wished the learning process could be more exciting and an open-ended process rather than being mallet with more information.

There is nothing we can do to change the past; we can only try to create a better and brighter future. It begins with a shift in perspective: Beginning this process in the early years, when attitudes toward the world around them are forming, is essential.
