Art for Well-being
In 2023, Tolstoy Farm 2.0 at VMCRDI was conceptualized as a place for a transformative journey, firmly grounded in Gandhian values with a vision to revitalize local livelihoods, foster decentralization, and self-reliant village economies.
The name Tolstoy Farm, an ashram originally established in Johannesburg, South Africa by Mahatma Gandhi in 1910, resonates with the principles of dignity, simple ways of living, respect for nature, and high ideals of non-violence, fraternity and Satyagraha. Tolstoy Farm 2.0, set up in an urban context, is VMRCDI’s attempt to reimagine and recreate such an institution while integrating the praxis of empowering individuals and communities, promoting gender equality and maintaining ecological balance.
This year, Tolstoy Farm 2.0 embarks on the journey within. We believe that to bring peace and harmony to the world we need to work towards peace and harmony within our bodies and minds. To facilitate that, we are organising art workshops for mindfulness, emotional well-being and stress release. In this fast-paced city of hard work, glamour and social media, we bring to you an oasis of calm and quietude.
First in the series is Mindful Hand Pottery Workshop. Join us on 21st December 2024 at Tolstoy Farm 2.0. Register Here
